Two men in their 20s were seriously injured when their car left the road and rolled up an embankment on the M7 Durban-bound near the Hans Dettman off-ramp at about 1am on Sunday morning, paramedics said.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find the car up the bank, the passenger still inside the vehicle, Rescue Care spokesman Garrith Jamieson said.
Advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the man in the car before carefully extricating him, and with the help of Durban fire department carried the injured man down the bank to the waiting ambulance. Both men were then transported to nearby hospitals for the further care that they required.
“At this stage the exact cause of the single vehicle to lose control and roll is unknown; however, SAPS [South African Police Service] were on the scene and will be investigating further,” Jamieson said.
